Without the Baggage

When looking at your life,

What would you recall

to tell the younger ones

About who you were?

Is it the treatment you received

or treatment that you gave?

Is it the people you call friends

or those that you hate?

Is it the things you did

or things you saw?

The things you heard

or things you whispered?

Do you recall the failures

or tell them of success?

Of what was in the open

or things hidden away?

Would you ignore the world

And all the creatures in it?

Or mention all you touched

by living in it?

As for myself,

I was what I still am and always will be.

And that is simply

Me.
